Closing Ceremonies for Pie in the FESA Fundraiser

Event Wrap-up

For many, 2020 has been a different year to say the least. For the Further Education Society of Alberta, it’s no different. It was back in April when we first announced our Pie in the FESA fundraiser. Little did we know at the time that the single idea of wanting to see the FESA Board Members pied in the face would blossom into a very successful, exciting, unique, messy, and fun fundraising opportunity! We also didn’t realize we would be doing all of this during a global health crisis.

Tomorrow, August 25th will be the last day to make donations that will be matched up to 50% by Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink. If you haven’t picked which Board Member you want to see get pied, you better hurry and donate now to make your donation go further!

As of today, the FESA Board Members have raised $7,815 for the Pie in the FESA fundraiser. Proceeds will go to helping support literacy and learning programs in Calgary and help FESA continue to provide free learning kits that contain literacy tools, books, and other items.

“Winning” Board Members

To quickly go over the rules, in case you don’t know, FESA Board Members were seeing who could raise the most money through the Pie in the FESA fundraiser. The three Board Members with the highest amount raised by August 25th will be taking a pie in the face by a person of their choice. If the Board raises a combined total of $10,000, then all the Board Members will be joining in on the pieing.

Upcoming

With the ending of the fundraising period, we now are moving into the next phase and that’s bringing you the sweet, sweet pieings. Like most things in life now, our upcoming pieing event has been impacted by the ongoing health crisis and won’t be held in a group setting. Instead, our Board Members will be pieing themselves remotely. We will be sharing the pieing video sometime around mid-September.

As well in the video, we will be announcing our total amount raised, if any Board Members have been saved from their pieing fate, and any surprise announcements we want to sneak in. You’ll just have to watch and find out.

Funding

As we mentioned above, we will be ending our matching donations for the Pie in the FESA Fundraiser on August 25th, but there are still options to donate! If you want to still donate to the Pie in the FESA fundraiser, you can! It just won’t be a matching donation.

However, if you want to get that matching donation into FESA, there are a couple of options for you to donate through. You can donate through our online portal (www.shawcharityclassic.com/donate/fesa) and your donation will be matched up to 50% by Shaw Birdies for Kids, or you can text KIDS098 to 30333 to donate $10 and have it grow up to $30.
