Smiles and Memories at the Manchester Kids Club Summer Edition

Summer tends to be a quieter time for FESA programs, as many people take vacations and focus on relaxation. To keep the momentum going, we host larger, one-time events each year. This summer, we teamed up with the City of Calgary and the Manchester Community Space to bring you the Kids Club Summer Edition. Over four exciting days, 20 kids enjoyed fun, crafts, baking, drawing, playing, and learning.

Last Wednesday, we visited the Kids Club and joined the program for a playground adventure. Late in the morning, the kids enjoyed an hour running around, playing games, and making themselves dizzy with laughter. After the playground fun, it was time for a snack break, followed by even more energetic playtime with smiles and laughter.

After the kids had burned off some energy, we dove into a fun and educational activity—baking brownies and making fondant, a versatile type of icing that can be moulded like clay for creative designs.

The kids eagerly copied down the recipe, honing their reading and writing skills. This hands-on baking experience helped them refine their fine motor skills and allowed them to see the immediate results of their efforts, making the activity all the more rewarding.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Manchester community for their warm welcome and allowing us to share the joy of the Kids Club Summer Edition with everyone. It was a privilege for the kids to be part of it, and we hope everyone had a fantastic time!
